The 1st Annual Irish Outreach Golf Tournament
Coronado Golf Course

All roads led to Coronado, San Diego for the 1st Annual Irish Outreach Golf Tournament. The event sponsored by The Field Authentic Irish Pub and Restaurant was held on September 18th and some 125 golfers showed up, on what was another smashing day, weather wise, in America’s Finest City.

With a 12:30 shotgun start, registration began around 11am with Kim, Lisa, Wendy and Shanna keeping everything running smoothly. The golfers had an abundance of time to enjoy the pre tourney barbecue and putting competition. The 1st Annual Irish Outreach Golf Tournament participants

There was huge turnout from San Diego immediate Irish community, no doubt in support for a very worthy cause – Irish Outreach in a relatively new and small non-profit organization. They specialize in a variety of issues with legal, immigration matters taking up most of their time. Bernadette Cashman, native of Galway runs the show for Irish Outreach, ably assisted by Madeline Daylo and her mother Peggy, a native of County Kerry.

The tournament started on time and most golfers finished around 4 and half hours, with some a little behind, no doubt a result of the various “Beer Tents” placed around the course’s tee boxes.
Again the weather was simply fantastic and some of the views also equally magnificent.

The presentation ceremony, along with the raffle and entertainment took place at The Field in the Gaslamp. The legendary Tony Cummings and Harold’s Craic Band provided entertainment. Huge arrays of prizes were up for grabs and nearly everyone walked away with somethingThe 1st Annual Irish Outreach Golf Tournament participants to go along with the Goody bags from the golf course. Our emcee for the event was local radio personality Sam Bass, and a wonderful job he did too. The first place winners were Michael McCann, Dennis Fitzgerald, and Sean Cooke. Each member received a beer logged golf bag and a beautiful Waterford Crystal bowl. Second place went to Dave Willardson team and they’ll surely enjoy the restaurant gift certificates they received. Well done!

The evening then kicked off in full and I believe the party kept going until around midnight. Overall the event was a great success and numerous thanks to a lot of people. To our volunteers helpful throughout Coronado golf course for making this 1st times an enjoyable one.

Great thanks also to Daniel and Enda Drayne of The Field for sponsoring this inaugural event and for the donation of the dinner and their fabulous premises.

InBev, Guinness, Mesa, Heineken and Red Bull provided beverages. To our entire tee hole sponsors and everyone else who participated, thank you all very much.
